At first rather tense, the wine opens up nicely, with a gorgeous, muscular expression of fruit that is married with superb clarity and freshness throughout. Impeccably polished tannins inform the beautiful, long finish. Sweet scents of pipe tobacco add a sense of lift on the close. This is a marvelous effort from Tua Rita and a hugely over-achieving wine relative to the estate’s top bottlings. Needless to say, the 2007 Perlato del Bosco is highly recommended.
